A small, passionate and powerful team. Project Green Wall was founded by a group of individuals who wanted to make a positive difference. The idea was simple: "To build 50,000 square feet of living public art on the sides of buildings where people live, within 50 months." The benefits are clear and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
After visiting apartment buildings and talking to condominium owners across the City of Toronto, it became clear that the residents of Toronto want to see innovative and positive change in their communities. They want to see projects that incorporate real, sustainable, common-sense solutions to challenges they face on a daily basis.
We take an artistic approach at each location. We strive to create a stunning piece of art that will compliment its surroundings.
Project Green Wall has selected various locations around the City of Toronto that are very close to heavy highway traffic. Buildings that are close to highways have long complained about being bombarded with intensifying air pollution. This includes toxic fumes such as formaldehyde, VOC's, trichloroethylene, carbon monoxide and countless others.
Plants and trees have been used for used for years as barriers against traffic and other urban noise pollution. Green walls built on the sides of buildings offer the same benefits. They insulate against noise, vibrations and reduce sound penetration. In addition, they help absorb the echo bouncing off buildings and dampen the noise pollution of modern cities.
Green walls help buildings become more energy efficient, which leads to a decrease in carbon emissions. They also help mitigate the urban heat island effect, absorb and filter storm water, reduce pollution and act as carbon sinks. Each green wall will use the storm water from the building roof for irrigation. This will help urban cities deal with existing storm water management problems. Green walls also increase biodiversity in their surroundings, helping to maintain the ecosystem.
Green walls are at the cutting edge of design trends. They have been featured on buildings around the world that are looking for distinction; something that makes them stand out from their competitors. A green wall does just that. Green walls have also been proven to increase foot traffic to local retail spaces.
Living in an urban City we are surrounded by concrete, traffic, noise and pollution. This type of environment has a profound impact on our physical and mental wellness. Studies have shown that green walls reduce stress and increase productivity.
Project Green Wall is looking for an exclusive number of companies to help us build 50,000 square feet of living public art within 50 months. We have a limited number of locations to work with.
Once completed, further opportunities will be limited. Studies have shown that companies associated with green walls increase their brand awareness by as much as 50%. We are currently in discussions with several organizations who plan to become partners of Project Green Wall.
